The smart strategies, which the Danish capital adopts in its smart growth to improve the quality of life of citizens, consist of:
make the city 'more and more' green;
reduce energy consumption by modernizing old buildings and properly assessing energy efficiency;
apply advanced technologies to new buildings to make them smart and green;
increase the production of energy from renewable sources;
implement sustainable mobility to make the city more liveable, by encouraging travel around the city by public transport, by bicycle or on foot. The city uses wireless data from mobile devices, GPS in buses and sensors placed in sewers and garbage cans to achieve improvements in relation to traffic, air pollution and CO2 emissions.
Copenhagen aims to become the first zero-emission city in the world by 2025 and Denmark is committed to completely eliminating fossil fuels by 2050.
