This city, the capital of Norway, stands out among smart cities for the development of an environmentally friendly policy. The range of smart projects that Oslo carries out is based on principles aimed at satisfying, first and foremost, the needs of citizens; some examples are:

• the development of systems for circular waste management;

• green energy production;

• the digitization of all citizen-oriented digitalisable services.

The lighting of the city is made with LED lights, which are all connected to a monitoring center. These are "smart lights" that automatically change the amount of lighting according to the needs of the moment.

Oslo also uses sophisticated license plate detectors, which, based on the data received, avoid traffic jams, making traffic smoother. The goal to be achieved in the next few years is to apply this technology to the entire transport system with the abolition, by 2025, of access to the city for all non-electric vehicles.
